Direct trade is an informal model where a roaster buys directly from a farmer, typically paying above fair trade minimums but without formal certification. Kochere practices both: we carry certified fair trade coffees and also maintain direct trade relationships across all our origins.

Is fair trade coffee more expensive?

At Kochere, fair trade single origin coffees are priced in line with the rest of our specialty lineup — typically $27.49 per 12 oz bag with free shipping. That works out to roughly $0.75 per cup brewed at home.

Can I get fair trade coffee ground for espresso?
