Colombian Medellín Coffee

Kochere's Colombia Medellin captures the essence of world-class Colombian specialty coffee in a beautifully balanced medium roast. Sourced from smallholder farmers in the Antioquia region — the heartland of Colombian coffee production — and grown in rich volcanic loam soil at 1,300–1,500 meters, these Castillo, Caturra, and Typica variety beans are fully washed and solar-dried to unlock their natural complexity. The cup is inviting and versatile: deep chocolate sweetness meets the brightness of dried orange and a juicy berry finish. A near-perfect everyday coffee that performs brilliantly as drip, pour-over, or French press. Fair Trade certified, Non-GMO, and roasted fresh to order in small artisanal batches.

Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We’ve got answers!

What makes Colombian Medellin coffee special?

Kochere's Colombian Medellin is sourced from smallholder farmers in the Antioquia department — the heart of Colombia's famed coffee triangle. Grown at 1,300-1,500 meters in volcanic loam soils, these four-varietal beans (Castillo, Caturra, Colombia, and Typica) are fully washed and solar-dried for a clean, well-defined cup. The EP (European Preparation) classification means every lot is hand-sorted to remove defects. Tasting notes: dried orange, berry, and chocolate.

What does EP (European Preparation) mean?

European Preparation is a Colombian export quality standard requiring green coffee to be hand-sorted and defect-removed to specifications historically demanded by European specialty buyers. EP-graded lots contain fewer imperfect beans per sample than standard export grade, resulting in a more consistent, cleaner-tasting cup. It is a labor-intensive sorting process performed after dry milling and before export.

How does Colombian coffee compare to Brazilian or Ethiopian coffee?

Colombian Medellin sits in the middle of the flavor spectrum. It is brighter and more fruit-forward than Brazilian Santos (dried orange and berry vs. cocoa and almond), but cleaner and more structured than naturally processed Ethiopian coffees (which have wilder, more fermented character). Colombian coffee's fully washed processing and volcanic loam terroir produce the balanced, chocolatey-citrus profile that made Colombian coffee one of the world's most recognized origins.

How fresh is the coffee when it arrives?

Your beans are roasted within 1-2 days of your order and shipped immediately. Most US orders arrive within 3-5 business days of the roast date, during peak flavor. Every bag includes the roast date.

What grind should I choose?

Whole bean is recommended for optimal freshness. For drip brewing, select Drip Grind. For French press, choose Coarse. For espresso or AeroPress, select Fine. Colombian Medellin's balanced profile performs well across all brew methods — it is one of the most versatile coffees in the lineup for daily drinking.

How should I store my coffee?

Store in the resealable bag or an airtight, opaque container in a cool, dark place. Avoid the refrigerator. Whole beans stay fresh 4-6 weeks; ground coffee is best within 1-2 weeks.

What if I don't like my coffee?

Kochere offers a Perfect Cup Guarantee. Contact us within 30 days for a full replacement or refund — no questions asked.
